Muay Thai

The art of 8 limbs.

Known as the “Art of Eight Limbs”, Muay Thai features punches, kicks, elbows, knees, and standing grappling. It is a combat sport and as such, is considered a martial art. However, modern Muay Thai looks much more like kickboxing. As the most effective striking martial art in the world, it is no wonder why Muay Thai has become one of the key foundations of MMA.

Although our foundation lies in Muay Thai, we build upon that art by borrowing from other systems and styles such as American Kickboxing, Western Boxing, Filipino martial arts and Jun Fan Gung Fu. This allows us to train and develop without being stylistically limited. Our system uses street and ring proven tactics taught in a safe environment.

Our Program

Muay Thai is considered an all levels class that covers both fundamental and advanced topics. The instructor will make sure you are paired up appropriately according to skill level. Each class is heart pumping and sweat producing 60 minutes. Students will leave class knowing that they learned how to better defend themselves but also feeling positive about the great workout they had. Each class begins with movement drills, followed by detailed instruction, and partner-based learning.

Our advanced curriculum primarly feature drills that involve students defending themselves more intelligently. Concepts involving close quarter fighting such as clinching and dirty boxing will be shown. As always, the focus will still be on getting in a great workout and more importantly having a great time with your training partners.

Sparring or Clinch work will give the students an ability to test themselves in a controlled environment. Similar to “rolling” in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, sparring can be controlled, educational, and fun.

What do I wear?

We strongly encourage you to buy 14oz or 16oz boxing gloves, 180inch hand wraps, and Thai style shin guards. Although we have gear for you to borrow in the beginning, we strongly suggest you purchase your own equipment as soon as possible.

Students that want to work through the curriculum and spar are also encouraged to purchase a proper mouthpiece and male students should wear an athletic cup. Ask a coach for more information on purchasing equipment online.
